Myself and my two young daughters, Nikki and Grace are students of Gerald Toki School of Kali in Phoenix, Arizona. We were fortunate to meet Late Grandmaster Largusa in person and witnessed some of his techniques at a seminar in Fremont two years ago.

My deepest sympathies to the Largusa family. Grandmaster Ben is truly a great martial artist as well as a gentleman/musician—always humble and never showed any arrogance towards anyone. I’m very fortunate to have witnessed the techniques/principles that he had shown me and applied that to my life also. GM Ben will definitely be missed.

My instructor spoke of the GM Largusa on many occasions not just of his skill and speed but the tenderness in his eyes and heart. I was not witness to either moment but either way I was touched by the recalling of my mentor. I send my deepest condolences and utter joy to know he has moved on a higher place, to be with the other great ones. May the lord welcome him with open arms.

The only man Bruce Lee called a master, Ben Largusa left a legacy behind him in the Martial Art world and one of the 7 masters to expose Kali at the 1965 Ed parker Long Beach Tournament along with Bruce Lee, Ben Largusa speed and rhythm impressed even the Dragon himself. I personally have not yet witness another man move with such action which one can only believe by seeing first hand. Ben Largusa deep understanding and knowledge of the ancient art of Kali was also truly expressed through his teachings. He would leave most speechless in the fact that he could physically perform Kali, verbally explain it and break down into the theory science form of Kali which today is a rare find. I consider Ben Largusa one of my greatest masters and humbled to stand in front of the man on many occasions, he stands tall in the presents of great masters of our time. His passing is a loss but more important his presents was a great inspiration to us all and the Martial Arts community.
